The Mission of the Sts’ailes Development Corporation (SDC), a Sts’ailes owned and controlled entity, is to serve the sovereign inherent interest of the Sts’ailes Xwelmexw (people), throughout Sts’ailes So:l’h Temexw (traditional territory), in accordance with I:westeleq, through the creation, ownership and operation of profitable businesses including socio-economic enterprises that incorporate the rich Sts’ailes Si:wes (teachings) and Snowóyelh (laws), to strengthen self-resilience and prosperity in an environmentally sustainable manner
About Us
In 2008, Sts’ailes leadership implemented the growing community need for an economic development arm to govern the businesses of the community. As a result, in 2009, they created Moytelexw “helping one another”– the Sts’ailes Development Corporation (SDC) to accomplish the following benefits and expectations:
Increase own source revenue; create more businesses opportunities
Enhance capacity and employment; signal community members about the professional positions needed in the future for business
Reduce liability; ensure assets are managed and protected
Streamline and create efficiencies in business, governance and program roles
Prioritize community and leadership direction and goals
